Welcome to the Web home of the family of faith known as Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Lee's Summit, Missouri.   We invite you to come worship with us Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings, and want you to consider yourself among friends who care.  We hope that you will visit us soon and rejoice with us in the message of the Gospel -- "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Boldly Sharing the Love of Christ is the mission and ministry of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.  We accept Jesus' Great Commission to go and make disciples of all people (
Matthew 28:18-20).  We are a community of believers called by God to:

Build relationships
Share Christ's love
Live in God's grace
Care for all people in need

Prayer: God of love, you lifted up your Son on the cross so that
you could draw all people to him.  Fill us with thanksgiving
for this incredible love that we dare to believe is ours.  Help us
to be faithful servants of your new covenant, reaching out to all
those whom you claim; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and forever. Amen.

Week of Mar 20

Moving to only online worship and study...

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Last night the CDC (Center for Disease Control) released new guidelines, limiting the gathering of individuals to less than 50 people. Since then, the President has encouraged even fewer. It is anticipated that these restrictions may be in place for up to 8 weeks. These recommendations are not intended to cause fear and panic, nor are they an attack on our faith. But rather, they are in place to direct us as a nation to respond together to slow the spread of the virus so that medical personnel can better manage illness, especially for the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.

For this reason, it is prudent for us to temporarily suspend worship, classes, other activities, events, and more. This is done not out of fear, but rather as an act of love, as a way to help. This seems foreign to us as Christians, however, because gathering in God’s house around the means of grace—the Word and Sacraments—is foundational to our identity in Jesus. But this is not the first time Christians are willing to take such action for the good of those around them. And God has not left us without ways to be in fellowship (though at a distance) and in His Word.

At this point we will take it on a week to week basis. Here is what we know at this point.

  • All church activities this week will be postponed to a later time.
  • We will not meet in person for worship or the meal this Wednesday, the 18th.
  • We will not meet in person for worship, Sunday School, or Bible Class this Sunday, the 22nd (or on Saturday the 21st).
  • We WILL provide online options, the details of which are in the works. They may be live or they may be pre-recorded, since we are hearing of some regional bandwidth issues. Watch for more information.
  • We WILL provide as many resources as possible for worship, Bible study, devotions, and children’s learning activities in the home.
  • We WILL spend a lot of time on the phone checking on people, praying, encouraging them.
  • Keep up-to-date via e-mail or facebook.

At this point we do not know yet about important moments in our Christian life like Easter and Confirmation, which fall within that potential 8-week window. You can be sure that many updates will be coming in future days and weeks.

Dear people of God, though we are very saddened that this is occurring, remember that this is only temporary and this too will pass. God is good. His mercy endures forever. Great is His faithfulness! Read Lamentations 3:21-26 for more comfort. Lamentations may be the saddest book in the whole Bible, and yet those verses right in the middle of the book are FULL of comfort and peace!

Blessings in Christ Jesus, who has saved us from sin, sickness, and death!
